SGExceptionMethodNotAllowed
-
Hi
I am getting the error: ‘SGExceptionMethodNotAllowed: Cannot create folder: /home1/motekordering/public_html/wp-content/uploads/backup-guard/’
And I am unable to get into my wordpress cms, it will not even load the log in screen, all I get is the error.
Anything I can do about it ?
Thank you
Nir

Hello,
This means Backup Guard doesn’t have sufficient permissions to create a destination folder where we keep all your backups, log files, meta infos and so on…
So, try to connect with any FTP client (e.g. Cyberduck, FileZilla …), create ‘/wp-content/uploads/backup-guard/‘ and set proper permissions to allow Backup Guard have a full access on that directory.
Thanks,
Support Team, Backup Guardif you are trying to migrate your backup to another server, The answer above is not correct. I am having the same issue, and it is not directory permissions, but that the backup file has a different backup path to the restore path. I am not getting much help at all from the plugin author, and have spent the last 30 hours trying to work this out on my own without any help or success. 🙁 not happy.
Did you resolve your problem?

Hi, I have resolved the problem, but I can’t recall what exactly did it
I think I might ended up replacing the folders with a back up I had.Sorry for not being able to help
yup, I tried using their extractor but it only seems to extract the wp-content folder, so I have no way of restoring the database…
I’m very disappointed in their idea of “Emergency” support, my site has now been out of action for over 48 hours, and I have only had two responses to my support ticket in that time.
Thank you for your help anyway!
Two things –
First, I just experienced this issue. I used the plugin to backup a site on BlueHost, and Migrate it to Godaddy. I just migrated a site from one server to another, and it seems that the plugin wants to make a folder but can’t. The previous answer is correct in that the new folder and the old folder will not have the same paths (different servers) therefore setting permissions won’t fix the problem. The restore paths will be different…so that doesn’t work.
Here’s the fix:
Second, if you can connect via FTP, you can delete the backup plugin folder. Should be: wp-content/plugins/backup. Ditching those core files for the plugin will remove all php references and calls that generate the error. That will re-enable your site, assuming everything else is ok, and will eliminate the error from taking over your installation.
I was able to do this, log in, and reinstall the Backup plugin…return to business as usual.
Good luck!
Many thanks yodajpj. Late last night I eventually worked this out myself, though your help and comment is most welcome and reassuring that I wasn’t just going mad!
I wasn’t brave enough to fully delete the backup folder, so I simply FTP’d in and re-named it and the result was the same. I am still struggling to re-install the plugin, but at least the site is live again.
This is clearly a bug in their custom file format, storing the old path in the backup file, which will prevent the “migrate” process, as this path is never going to be the same if migrating between servers.
I am well used to the concept of working stuff out myself – it is to be expected in the open source part of the WordPress world, but it is very disappointing that when someone who has the cheek to charge for premium “Gold” features, a significant part of which is for “Emergency” support, fails to come through… I’m not going to get that part of my life back. Heyho, you live and learn!
Hello,
The issue related to migration was resolved in BackupGuard Pro v1.1.36. So, if you’re not running the latest version, try to update and check it once again.
