• I need help setting up my website with optimized WordPress with hostgator. See I need for this to work for me. I have an fully made wordpress website on my locally hosted website on my xxamp server. It’s completely made from the ground up ,but what I need right now is to import all of my completed files including the theme into my optimized hostgator server which is live right now. But here is my main problem I don’t know about hostgator it really seems like a bad service with my little experience with it customer service doesn’t really help you. But yeah please answer my question.

The usual way to do this is to:

    1) upload the files using FTP

    2) upload the data using phpMyAdmin

    3) maybe a bit of find and replace to make sure urls still work

My preference is to use the Backup Buddy plugin’s Import Buddy feature, which makes this a breeze. There will be other (including free) plugins you could use to make the process easier.

My experiences with Hostgator have mostly been positive, and setting up a WordPress site on it is quite “easy”.

Problem with step 2 how to upload the data and should I use the hostgator made ftp account. Any videos on this maybe?

Read https://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients about using FTP. Yes you would use the FTP credentials supplied by Hostgator for your account.

And here’s the basic installation info for WordPress – http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress

You would access phpMyAdmin by logging into Hostgator’s control panel. Once in, you would import data from your current WordPress install. Of course, you would first need to have exported the data from WordPress on your own computer. Which you could do by installing phpMyAdmin on your own computer, or perhaps it’s simpler to find a plugin that will export all your data instead.

This is an optimized wordpress site there isn’t a cpanel.

An “optimized” WordPress site on Hostgator without a cPanel? Not heard of that before, but I looked it up – http://www.hostgator.com/managed-wordpress-hosting – and it seems to be a managed service that’s supposed to make life easier for you. Right.

On that page, Hostgator say they have a “free migration service” and “all the help you need” so ask them for advice and see whether they can provide what they promise.

I bought and canceled their wp hosting. Because, You can only use non www website. I planed to host http://www.techfalls.com. But after buying their service, it was not possible to make it www. So, it was like techfalls.com I contacted their support and they also told me that it is not possible to have www website, if i use optimized wordpress hosting. What a lol. Even, I did not get database access. Godaddy wp hosting also sucks. But they give you more control over your wordpress site. That’s why i’m currently on GD. But, planning to migrate to somewhere else.
