Setting orders to closed status

We are using Authorize.net CIM. We authorize the transaction and when its ready to ship we change the status to “accepted payment”. This gets sent to Authorize.net and charges their card.
But if we need to edit the taxes on Authorize.net it then captures and processes the transaction. It does NOT send anything back to the store to updated the status. WPEC won’t let you change the status to closed. So it sends information ok just doesn’t receive it back like it should. I had to go into the database and change the process code to “5” and then it showed closed. Is it supposed to work like that?
