set default payment method

I have selected from the back-end only one payment method which is “cash on delivery”.
Now, on the checkout page every time a user wants to order something he has to select “cash on delivery”.
He should not have to select this as long as it’s the only payment option available.
I’ve looked through “payment-method.php”.
It can be simpler just to use some javascript on document ready and select the payment method, or?
