Server/Hosting Suggestions

Hi there. I’ve had a pretty popular MT site for a long time which occasionally winds up on Digg. It holds together pretty well even under massive traffic (3000+ per hour). But has crashed once or twice as it approaches that level.

Now that I’m switching to WordPress I’m worried that the crash threshold is going to be a lot lower because of the dynamic publishing. Am I right in my concerns?

Does anyone have a suggestion for the minimum requirements I should ask for from my hosting provider assuming a level of traffic that is usually about 200/hr, but does have spikes on occasion like the one above?
