server didn’t send an API key

    I recently added SSL certificates to a few of my sites and now I notice that wordfence can’t scan. The scan stops saying it was stopped after a few seconds. I tried the curl command and get an error that my server didn’t send an API key.Under diagnostics tab I get this wp_remote_post() test back to this server failed! Response was: 403 Forbidden.
    I tried opening up the port 443 for outgoing traffic to the wordfence servers, no luck. I’ve been troubleshooting this all day and seems like it’s just a simple setting I’m missing. My site is running on windows server 2019, latest version of wordpress and all plugins are updated, latest version of MySql server, version 7.4 PHP. I don’t think it’s an issue with any plugins because it does the same on all sites that have SSL enabled and working. I have a few that I didn’t put SSL on and they work fine. Any help woul dbe greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

    When I deactivated it after exporting and deleting tables on deactivation, I also selected to delete wordfence login security tables. It broke my site when I deactivated it. I then used PhpMyAdmin to repair and optimize tables. That worked to fix the site. Then I re-installed WF and tried with the default settings… And it works. Must be something in the tables that I deleted that was left over from when it didn’t have the SSL certs. Wish I had tried deleting the tables on deactivation the first time I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it. I’m gonna play around with adding my settings one at a time so I can figure it out if I set something wrong. Thanks for all your help.

    I always suggest the reinstall as a last resort and most of the time it’s a corrupt table that gets repaired on the install. I even tested upgrading a site to SSL with Wordfence on it prior and didn’t have any issues. My guess is that a table needed to be repaired or a plugin was causing interference.
