After installing ‘Give’, some strange display problems occurred, and I’m sure this was due to a compatibility problem with something else on the site. The other plugins and WP itself were all up to date, but still, given all the variability in WordPress sites, this can happen occasionally–and obviously not just with the Give plugin, and so it was a good reminder to always do a complete backup before installing any plugin (which I had done).

    Hi there,

Sorry you’re having trouble with Give. Maybe you meant to submit a support ticket first — we do provide support for Give.

At first blush this sounds like something else is going on. There’s nothing that Give would do out of the box that would irreparably change your site. I’d be happy to help out if I can if you can provide some details.

    Thanks!

We haven’t made a final decision on a donation method, but thanks for your offer. And, alas, I really doubt something else was going on because this site has been up and running for a long time, and everything is up to date (WP version, as well as all the plugins), and we’ve never had a problem before. I’m sure it was simply a case of an incompatibility somewhere, and when you consider all the variables in any given WP site, it’s not surprising that this happens occasionally. If I want to take the time, I’m sure I can find the conflict, but, as I say, we haven’t even finalized the way we want to process donations, so I’m not planning to dig into it just now. Thanks again.

Hey @madeline – thanks for getting back and yes we understand that all the variables in WordPress sites can cause unexpected events. We’re sorry you experienced and issue while installing our plugin and would love to investigate your setup to see if this is in fact a bug and if we can prevent this in the future. I don’t think it’s very fair though, that you have given us a 1-star review title “Serious Problems” without providing us the opportunity to first support you. This review could be misleading for those looking to install the plugin and we’d love to fix any serious problem that our users find and give them credit for helping us fix and improve our plugin. We work very diligently to develop and support Give and hope you would provide us the fair opportunity to support you prior to giving a 1 star review. Thank you for your understanding and if you have any questions and/or would like us to support your issue please feel free to reach out to me directly at devin (at) givewp.com and I will provide you prompt and immediate assistance.

For anyone reading this, please know that the problems I encountered were not in the use of the Give plugin, but were due to a conflict of some sort, which could certainly occur with other plugins as well because there are so many variables at play when it comes to WordPress.
In fact, it was a good reminder to me that I should always back up before installing any new plugin. My review was not at all intended to discourage people from trying the Give plugin, and Devin Walker’s point is well taken about contacting their tech support before giving a 1 star review; in fact, I just tried to edit my review, but unfortunately this forum doesn’t seem to allow updates!

No, I’m afraid they wont. That’s not how it works and reviews are not deleted for that reason.

@madelinesalocks If you wish to update your review then please follow the instructions @dlocc provide. Alternateively you can use this link to update your review including the stars.

Given the support you received, that would be a nice thing IMHO. 😉
