• Hi,

In my website “www.itsmybangalore.com”, when a user is getting registered. He is getting registered to the network and not for the site in which he is registration.

I am using multisite and when a user registers, I can find his credentials in as a network admin and not as a site admin.

User who has registered is also not able to use the site but only is getting into the dashboard of the multisite.

    Please help.

  • Multisite installations do share subscriber users. But admin permissions should only be granted on a per-site basis.

Has this happened when you’ve added a new user to a single site, and what permissions are you giving them?

    Hi,

Correct, multisite installations do share the subscriber users. I had granted subscribers to add and publish posts.

This issue as stated earlier wasn’t there previously and it has come up now only for the newly registered users. Already registered users don’t have any issues.

OK, so what permissions are the new users being given when they register? You may have to check each sites settings under ‘Settings -> ‘General’ to check that new users are set as subscribers for each site.

    Hi,

But I don’t find this in mutisite. I even checked the same as multisite admin.

    I’ll ask again…

What permissions are the new users being given when they register?

I know it sounds like I’m asking the same thing, and I am. That’s because it’s very important to know what permissions each user is being given when they register. That way you can compare it to the permissions that they are supposed to receive.

I’d probably also ask if you’re running some sort of membership plugin, or something else that could affect the way that user registration occurs? There’s so many things that could possibly affect this that it’s very hard to pinpoint what it actually is without a lot more info.

    Ok,

I am using the plugin “User role editor”. In this plugin, I have made default user group as “Subscriber”.

    2) Permissions given to subscriber are as mentioned below.

      edit_posts
      edit_published_posts
      publish_posts
      read
      upload_files

One more thing that I want to highlight is the users who are now getting registered are not assigned any site. When I login as Multisite admin and when I click on all users. I see that the newly registered users don’t have any sites assigned to them.

Do you get the same results if you disable that plugin? If you do, that plugin is the cause, and you should seek support from it’s author.

Ok, say like I disable the plugin “user role editor” and delete it.

Can you please guide on how I can allow new users to a default role which will have only options like create posts, edit their own posts. They should not have options to delete posts and also should not have access to edit comments posted by other users for their posts.

You can set up Authors as the default user type when they join. As far as I know that sounds like pretty much exactly what you’re looking for now.

But where do I do this, I checked the settings>general as site admin and multisite admin and there is no option to select the default user
