For SEO purpose, i’m wondering if it is better to build a subdomain or subfolder multisite ?

    any feedback regarding this ?

    Thanks

  • Howdy,

Do you want all sites on the multisite to contribute to the “Link Juice” of the same site / entity? (I know, that is worded weird.)

Like, if you are having a bunch of sites all about tropical fish, and maybe you’d like for all those different sites people maintain to all sort of “count” towards search engines feeling your multisite is a good authority on tropical fish.

Anyway, you would want subfolder, instead of subdomain.

    Take care,
    Paul

*psst* Google stopped caring about that last year or so.

On a small (normal sized) site, subdomain is the same as subfolder.

    So whatever you like 🙂

Make folders like for blog make it yourdomain.dom/blog and use blog page template for this folder..

No need to install multiple subdomains, Google like small single domain sites better organised with navigation and clean layout

    great ! thanks guys !

on what your reply is based on please ?
Do you have any website explaining the current algo used by google, bing, etc… ?

submitshop – That’s not Multisite. This is the Mutlsite section. We don’t make folders, we use virtual ones and let WP parse it 🙂

Do you have any website explaining the current algo used by google, bing, etc… ?

Google does. You can look ’em up if you want, but it was … October 2010 or so that all that came down.
