I have read this is as important as any other SEO potential… I am going to fill them in, but the description stuff, would this be a usual 300 words description that would suffice?

Also it says some theme won’t display, if my theme did display ti where would it be placed? I hope it doesn’t..

edit: I have just seen you can also add seo for tags too?? Would this definitely add to seo advantage in wordpress?

You can place anything you like in tag or category descriptions. Whether your theme displays it or not is theme dependent. AFAIK most themes completely ignore the field. Not only is it not displayed, it is not even in any sort of embedded data like microdata or JSON-LD. In the off chance it shows up in a page somewhere and is read by search bots, it is likely descriptions beyond a brief length are ignored, much like the description meta field for pages.

Assuming your theme doesn’t output descriptions in any form, there would be no advantage to providing a description from a SEO standpoint. If you would like your theme to do something with descriptions, you could create a child theme and customize a category or tag template to do something with the information.
