There’s no difference between the two methods. However, by prefixing all of your pretty links with /go/ it does give you more control to configure your robots.txt file to disallow bots on any /go/… links if you wanted.

One last question, when trying to configure prefixing /go/ where the error appears saying that the link is already taken. What does that mean? I created a directory on my server but is not working! I have to do some extra configuration?
