Why can I only select one image in Insert Media, but if I select multiple images in Create Gallery and then return to Insert Media, now there are multiple images selected?

miqrogroove: (a) You can select multiple images using Cmd/Ctrl/Shift, to insert multiples. (b) the selections are shared between, in case you took the wrong path.

I personally would consider this a regression, as anyone on a touch UI would be unable to select multiple as they can’t really hold down a key while clicking. And I’d rather keep the ability to select multiples, if possible.

Multi-select-and-insert is a hidden feature that is new to 3.5. Users using an iPad can do single-select-and-insert.
The gallery view still offer a different form of multi-select as that is the primary workflow there.
I just noticed this behavior as a change from previous builds. It mimics OS behavior that has existed for a long time, but there’s nothing obvious on the screen to tell common non-geeks that the ability exists.
I like the idea of not having to do the Cmd/Ctrl/Shift/whatever, and making process one of a single click or tap to toggle the selection. It’s more obvious, I think, and my mom could do it. As it stands now, without an indicator that multi-select is available via modifier keys, she wouldn’t figure it out in a million years.
If you’re just selecting an image to go into a post, not a gallery, now that I think about it, I like the status quo better. How many people would click one, then try to click something else to change their selection and get frustrated that the previous one didn’t clear?
I was thinking selecting things for a gallery earlier — my bad.
Weird. I just created another gallery and this time it’s selecting multiple images without holding down Cmd.
I should probably clarify, that when inserting into a post, I must Cmd+click. When doing a gallery, the multi-select works without the Cmd.
Earlier the multi-select in gallery was *not* working without the Cmd.
What’s the intended behavior? Is it one way when inserting images into a post and another way when doing the gallery?
Sounds like this is the expected behaviour now. I’ll mark this as reolved.

please can anyone help with this problem,
When inserting say 30 images int a post, the images get entered in one big long list without any space, is there any way to set padding around the images so I don’t have do it manually.
