Seeking for image thumbnail plubin

I apologize for such a noob question and if I am not following proper etiquette on this forum, but I am searching for a plug-in for my site and can’t seem to find one, so I come here for suggestions.

I have a page on my site where I will be taking in user photo submissions. As I get them i want to display them as thumbnails on my page and when you click on them, have them expand on the same page instead of re-directing to another tab/page. And if possible I’d like a caption or some way to put a small description below or above the picture (or wherever convenient). I do plan on having a sidebar of navigation/advertisements so the page won’t be a full screen.

I’d also prefer to have at least 3 columns

I have looked at the plugin KB Easy PicasaWeb, but it can only provide 2 columns, and when you click on the picture, it’ll take you to the actual Picasa album (which just isn’t as professional looking as I’d like it to be)

I’ll take any suggestions and I appreciate your help and patience with my first post.
