    search everything, that is. How could I extend it to also search author name or other data stored in usermeta?

    are we talking dan cameron’s search everything? the version i use has the option (on admin>options>search everything) to include metadata, but ive never tested it.

    have you tried asking him directly on dancameron.org/wordpress? he is really good at helping out.

    other than that i cant help.

    I tried to ask him, but his captcha thing is busted (image is a 404) and his mail form is also broken…

    Here is the quick fix that I’ve come up with – add a custom field that would include the author’s name – that will add it as metadata and make it searchable by Search Everything. Not the answer I really want, but a temporary fix in the meantime…

    I ended up rolling my own search to solve this.

    how did you add the custom field with a default value of the author’s name?
