Search box widget not showing up | WordPress.org

I’m upgrading the WordPress website for my church, and noticed that the Search widget seems broken. When I add it, it just shows whatever words I put in there but doesn’t show the search box. It does this no matter where I put it.

Search is on the right sidebar, where it says “Search the Website”

Any help would be appreciated!

What theme are you using?
where did you download it from?

I’m using the default WordPress search widget.

As for the theme, it’s a paid theme, from http://uuatheme.org/ I still have the problem when I switch to the themes that came with WordPress, however.

try Enabling debugging and post the results.

I just did, and it showed absolutely nothing. I set it to save to the error log, but nothing.

I tried to circumvent the issue by installing the “search shortcode” plugin, instead of the search box I was hoping for it just puts [search form] there.

Please disable *all* plugins and switch the theme to twentysixteen. Do you still have the problem? If not, restore everything, one at a time, until you find what’s breaking the search widget.
