Search box on Write page

    Why isn’t there a Search box on the Write page? There’s one on the Manage pg. Often as I’m writing a post I have to look up information in another post. I’d love to be able to search right from within the Write pg. rather than using Google site search or having to go to Manage before I can do it.

    I guess no one has asked for it before. It’s not necessarily a bad idea (though some might consider it redundant). However, it would require a major change to the Write panel layout. Manage takes you by default to edit.php, in effect a search and latest posts page, whereas Write goes straight to the Create Post editor.

    Is my suggestion here enough for a WP maven to see it & add it to someone’s feature list for future consideration? Or should I notify someone or somewhere else?

    You could add them to the suggestion section of the codex for future versions:
