Search Bar Issue

I am using the Genesis Theme.

I just used the template from my parent theme to get my search bar up and working.

However now when i attempt to search something, no matter what i put inside of the search bar, it searches as if the search bar was empty.

If i just hit enter in the search bar, then it will return my placeholder text “search”
