Screen Options do not respond

I have a few things which do not work as they are supposed to. Most recently it is the Screen Options in my Dashboard. I originally turned off a few items and set it to 3 columns. Now it ignores any changes I make. It is like there is a “save” button I need to click or something. If I close the screen options and reopen it the changes are there but the screen does not change to match. And when I leave and come back the changes are gone.

Is there a save or update or refresh button I am not seeing? I watched a tutorial and his screen changed immediately as he deselected and re selected options.
