Scan Not finishing

I am attempting a scan and i keep seeing the error for scan not finishing. I have tried to max time out and the memory limit and nether made a difference. I also turned off both autoptimize and wp super cache and still it gives the error. it made it through the first one or two check boxes but that’s it. Any help would be appreciated.

Linux shared hosting platform.

We’re receiving the same issue for 2 websites on our Linux shared hosting platform.

Wordfence 7.0.1.
Wordpress 4.9.2

We’ve updated max_execution_time to 600, and memory_limit to 512MB, and the issue remains for both.

This is as far as we get on both websites.

Adding the constant:

define('WORDFENCE_SCAN_FAILURE_THRESHOLD', 1800);

to wp-config.php restarted the scans immediately without intervention.

They still failed after 33 minutes, so I changed 1800 to 3600.

Scan failed after 2 hours, so updated to 14400 (4 hours), but still failed after 4 hours, so I’ve updated the value to 43200 (12 hours).

I would be interested to see if it finishes after 12 hours.

Hi @stevedoig and @theonlybob
Increasing the value of “Time limit that a scan can run in seconds” for more than 3 hours isn’t recommended in all cases, so please keep this option empty for now and remove the “WORDFENCE_SCAN_FAILURE_THRESHOLD” constant.

For @theonlybob please try all the suggestions posted here, along with the “Limited Scan” option in (Wordfence > Scan > Scan Options and Scheduling).
