Hi, I’m checking the Wordfence scan results and want to understand the alerts better.

If a scan shows a warning but the file is from a known plugin/theme, should I ignore it after checking, or is there a safer step to confirm it first?

    Hi @reedvieira,

Thanks for reaching out! If the result is a “modified” warning on a known plugin/theme file, it’s often because the author edited the file inside an already-released version and is just a minor version update. If it were actually malicious, it would come back as malware rather than just a modification warning.

Before ignoring it, click through to the differences view to see what actually changed. If it looks like a comment or version bump, it’s safe to ignore it.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

    Thanks,
    Margaret
