• I hope s2Member can do this. I started using Paid Memberships Pro but it doesn’t seem to do what I need. In a nutshell, I want to duplicate the functions of http://npj.uwpress.org/ I need to:
-provide access to individual articles for a one-time fee. This fee is for just one article.
-provide unlimited access to all articles for an annual subscription fee. Fees vary according to size of the organization, but access is the same for all levels.
-Capture not just person’s name, but details about his organization during the signup process.
-I don’t want it to look like the members are logging into WordPress. When they log in, they should be taken to the content area directly. These members won’t have any WordPress roles like contributor, etc. They just need access to the articles.
My test site is at http://stjournal.org (using Paid Memberships Pro so far).

  • Yes, s2Member can do all that.

You could use different user levels to charge different prices for the annual subscription, but give each level the same access.

The registration form has certain fields automatically, but you can customize it by adding as many new fields as you want.

Payments for one-off purchases are also possible.

The typical s2Member setup means that subscribers never see the WordPress admin pages at all. You set whatever Login Welcome page you want. You can even have different Login Welcome pages per user, or per user level.

Well, I have Pro now. Now, I just have to figure out how to create the “one-off” purchase capability so that someone can pay to download just one article while maintaining unrestricted access to members. Is this set up through a membership level?
