I’m right at the start of using WordPress. I’ve got a domain name and a webhost service. I’ve uploaded the wordpress files to the root directory. My book tells me to type this into the address window of my browser: http://velovoyager.id.au/wp-admin/install.php (note that I’ve put my actual domain name in there). But I get the dreaded HTTP 404 – File not found.

    Can anyone help me out….?

    Trevor

  • See if the following video on installing WordPress helps…note, if you don’t have Cpanel, then just use FTP to upload the source code.

Thank you very much figaro, but I had done all the things the video said to do. At the point where I enter the domain name/wp-admin/install.php into my browser, I get the 404 message. I’ve logged a support call with my web host – I guess I’ll have to see what they say.

It’s A-OK now after talking to my host support….Trevor 🙂
