Run WordPress in a subfolder alongside old site

    Hi,

    a client wants to run two sites from one hosting account. The site in the root is non WordPress, and the WordPress site is in a subfolder, eg

    root site: site1.com
    WP site: site1.com/wordpress

    The two sites aren’t related and need different domain names. There is a second domain name which points to the subfolder where WordPress is installed, eg site2.com points to site1.com/wordpress.

    Is it possible to use WordPress this way, and if so am I right to change the Site Address in General Settings to site2.com? I tried this already but I just get a 404 error instead of the homepage I created in WordPress. I’ve read the articles on moving WP to a subfolder but having the second domain name is complicating things and I haven’t found an answer yet
