    Hello,

seems there’s a problem with the rules updates. Since May I’m unable to download the new rules.
I’ve tried to delete the local rules file, it’s not working.
I’ve checked your diagnostics, the Connectivity Ability to connect to the Wordfence servers is working correctly.

Maybe it’s something on your firewall? As I’m on a small shared server, so I believe that other websites too are using the same IP to contact your servers for the updates. IP: 144.76.154.28

    Thanks a lot!

Hi @mmystery, thanks for getting in touch.

Even though the connectivity is reporting as OK, it’d be helpful to see the diagnostics report myself to see if there’s anything else about your server configuration that may assist us in finding why the updates aren’t working.

Please send it to wftest @ wordfence . com. You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email

    Thanks,

    Peter.

Thanks @mmystery, the communication and other settings around permissions seem to be all returning OK results.

You can often rectify this issue by navigating to your wp-content/wflogs folder and finding your rules.php file using your FTP or hosting file manager. You can actually delete the wflogs folder or just this file and Wordfence should try to repopulate it within 30 minutes.

Persistent problems with this file/folder after trying the above, can be avoided entirely by setting Wordfence to write to the MySQLi storage engine instead of a file if you prefer: https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/mysqli-storage-engine/

Thanks and let me know how you get on,

    Peter.
