RSS widget looping

One of our users brought down the multisite network in a way we can’t seem to replicate. She had two sites /foo and /bar, and put RSS widgets that appeared on the front page of each one to try to get the feeds of the other, but neglected to include the /feed after the feed address and the logs were full of /foo /bar /foo /bar /foo /bar forever.

After restarting the server, I was able to go into the backend and delete the widgets, which fixed the problem.

However – I simply cannot replicate this issue on any of our environments. Any ideas?
