    Hi,

In order to give access to somebody on my team I chose a different role in the Other Options section thinking that every role from the one I chose up to Administrator would have access to galleries and settings. But instead, the settings and any way of interacting with galleries has become unavailable for all roles. I’ve seen other places that NextGen Gallery doesn’t support roles created outside the core WP. But they were in the given dropdown, so I chose one that was indeed a custom role.

How can I restore access to the Admin user, so that I can get back in there and change those settings.

    Thank You,
    Lisa

@lisath – Please try our external Reset Tool plugin here: https://bitbucket.org/photocrati/nextgen-gallery-reset/get/default.zip

To install and activate, go to Plugins > Add New … Upload Plugin
To use, go to Tools > NextGEN Gallery Reset

We do not offer specific support for the Reset Tool plugin as is but it can help in many circumstances, please let us know if it does.

Also to note, although other plugins may create roles that are registered in WordPress (thus showing in the drop-down), only the default roles of WordPress itself are recognized by NextGEN Gallery.

    Thanks!

    Hi—

I really appreciate the quick response and the fact that the reset tool worked.

I was also happy that the reset tool didn’t reset absolutely everything. My galleries still displayed as I’d set them up. 🙂

I see that you have a note in the Roles/Capabilities section saying that the plugin doesn’t recognize non-standard wordpress roles. But I think it would be helpful to go a bit further and to say that choosing one of those roles will mean that the plugin’s interface disappears from the dashboard.

    all best,
    Lisa

@lisath – Thanks for the feedback … adding a “why” would likely help with that information.
