    Hello,

We were developing our website and have now launched it. But in the last few days of development, we wanted to add a Galllery feature, so I installed Nextgen. As I am not the only one who would access it, I went into more optiions to change roles. I set up a “Sub-Admin” userr in my WP install for those who needed more than the editor role bu tless than the admin role. I selected that role for nextgen. HOwever that then locked EVERYONE out. So since we were a few days to finialze our site and launch, I just decided to unistall it and we can reinstall when we are ready to implement it. Assuming that it woiuold be a clean slate from the unistall. Apparently this is not the case. When I muigrated our site to the live domain, we tried to reinstall the plugin and it does not show up at all. It shows that it is activated and installed but will not show up in the admin panel and cannot be configured. Since we were not complete with our web development we had lots of work addded so just doing a restore will not work because that is too much to redo.

I uninstalled nextgen again, uininstalled User Role Editor, and removed any remanining Nextgen folders in my FTP and Database. then tried to reinstall onoly nextgen and it still does not work.

So something SOMEWHERE in the files and settings of my site is something that is still directing the role to the sub-admin created by User ROle Editor. or some other thing is still lagging and hiding in the code.

Does anyone know where this would be or what I would need to change?

I planned on purchasing this plugin but if i cant get this free version to work, I dont see a reason to purchase it if I would be blocked from using it.

@bwagman – Please try our external Reset Tool plugin here: https://bitbucket.org/photocrati/nextgen-gallery-reset/get/default.zip

To install and activate, go to Plugins > Add New … Upload Plugin
To use, go to Tools > NextGEN Gallery Reset

We do not offer specific support for the Reset Tool plugin as is but it can help in many circumstances, please let us know if it does as it should put the NextGEN Gallery Roles & Capabilities options back to the Administrator role.

Also to note, NextGEN Gallery only supports the WordPress default roles currently.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.
