    Hello,
I scanned a page on my site and noticed that the plug-in creates problems

    Robots Meta Tag Directives:
    index
    follow
    max-snippet: -1
    max-video-preview: -1

if I disable the plug-in these errors are not detected
(I did the scan with this site seoworker)

    Thanks in advance

  • @gobbetto These directives were added due to changes in Google that you can read more about here: https://yoast.com/robots-meta-changes-for-google/

    Thanks for the reply,
I had seen that page that you linked to me
but I don’t understand what I have to do
could you give me some advice?
    thank you

    @gobbetto Thanks for your reply.

Regarding your concern, these additional directives were added due to some changes in copyright law in Europe which set your page to specifically opt in to allow Google to display the snippet. These don’t adversely affect your page if you are located in a country outside of those who require this though, so these shouldn’t be reported as errors or as creating an issue on your site’s pages.

    Thanks again for the answer,

my site, however, is in Italy and aimed at the Italian “market”
so i guess i should fix it if i’m not wrong

    thank you

Since you are in Europe, there is nothing to worry about. And by using the Yoast SEO plugin, we’re opting you in to all of the snippet features in Yoast SEO. Since you use Yoast SEO to optimize your search results, we can assume that that’s what you want.

sorry but I don’t understand, just because I’m in Europe I have to solve the problem or am I wrong?
    thank you

Seeing <meta name='robots' content='index, follow, max-image-preview:large, max-snippet:-1, max-video-preview:-1' /> is not an error. As mentioned earlier by Carl they were added due to changes from Google explained in https://yoast.com/robots-meta-changes-for-google/.

It started because of the new copyright rules in France explained in https://france.googleblog.com/2019/09/comment-nous-respectons-le-droit-dauteur.html; the long-term aim is the whole of Europe (Italy inclusive). It is better to be safe than sorry; because this potentially affects so many countries, Yoast decided to make a change for all Yoast SEO users.

ah, ok, so if I understand correctly, will there be some changes in the next updates?

    thank you

There will be no related changes in the next plugin update.

then i did not understand the previous message

    could you please be clearer?

I have to make some changes or you will solve it
    or what else?

    Thanks so much

@gobbetto The additional directives in the robots meta tag are intentional and necessary for many users, but don’t cause any issue if they are not required. If SEOWorkers is reporting these as errors, it isn’t correct.

We are going ahead and marking this issue as resolved due to inactivity. If you require any further assistance please create a new issue.
