Like the header and navbar. Front page could definitely use some visual hierarchy though. Some individual styling that divides up each category. Also, I see your have your copyright a little ahead of it’s self. Is that so you don’t have to update it on Jan 1, 2007?
Yes, I’m quite the lazy and I know the last thing I’ll think of in January is to update that one line. Most of what is there is the theme I’m using, with a bit of customizing… I definitely feel like the front page is missing something too. I don’t like being thrown right into a bunch of posts, so I like the static page… but I’m not really sure what else to add…
<?php echo date ('Y') ?> will keep that year up to date. I think you should add some individual design to each block. Think of the visual hierarchy of a news paper. They know how to lead your eye to the most important content.
In general, I like it how it is clean and simple. I agree that there need to be a tad more difference between the categories so it’s easy to discern things.
What else to add? I suggest nothing now. Just keep it going as-is. Maybe in a few months you can figure out something slightly different, but for now I think your form meets its function 😉
I too like the navbar, however, I’m having trouble viewing some things. For example, “Because the internet needs my opinions” appears to run in to the graphics above it, and there is a large empty space between topics. Is there a graphic there that is not loading for me for some reason?
ETA- I figured out the problem with things running in to each other, that was simply because my text size was set to largest.
I too like the nav bar and love the super clean simple look.
My only gripe is the words under the search bar barely show up. I had to highlight them to see “Google” and “My Site”.
Good job.
You need some images so that it doesn’t look like one of those domain squatter websites. It looks very default-y and barebones right now.
Second, decrease the space between the navigation menu and header. It doesn’t really serve a purpose, and it looks more like a mistake than an intentional design element.
I agree with SamBoll about the Google and MySite text at the top.
