what is up with me today! http://www.ricosuaveonline.com/blog I think absentmindedness is coming on early! :-S
Does nobody have any comments about the layout of my site? :-S
um i do ..
1. several of the links in the sidebar are misaligned in FF, the add to favorites link is actually almost hidden behind your header graphic..
links under there also appear to be placed somewhat oddly, not wrapped around the images correctly or something.
2. youve also got one lone link with a bullet before it.. that looks out of place as well.
3. the links at the very bottem of the sidebar.. and its a long way to the bottem with lots of whitespace in between, look out of place also.
4. You’ve removed the wordpress linkback, which is your choice, but I dont like not seeing it. I tend to not spend more than a second on sites that use free software and cant see keeping one stupid little link in place. especially when I see ppl that removed it, but managed to include that “oh so important” adspace.
5. there are 39 assorted errors on your page according to W3c.. If you plan on having a site thats viewable across a wide range of browsers, you would do well to resolve those.
The WP linkback thing wasn’t my choice. I downloaded a theme that obviously missed it out, it wasn’t a concious decision.
The links at the bottom of the sidebar, are also at the top of the sidebar, and are just there for people that are at the bottom of the page. If I fill the white space it would extend the pages of the single blog entries which would look daft.
The lone bulleted link is one of many that will be added. It’s just that the author of the blog (who isn’t me) hasn’t given me his other links for that category.
In terms of FF, I have been working with opera and IExplore. It’s not really viable for me to download another browser to test…I’m sorry to FF users, but the pages look perfect in IExplore and Opera :s
I will look at the W3C errors.
Thanks for your comments.
(btw the theme was minima plus that doesnt include the WP linkback)
yes ive looked in ie, and it looks better.
Given your answers, I wonder what sort of comments you were looking for, since youve just said it “looks perfect” in ie.. phishing for compliments I guess 🙂
for the record, you do need to download FF or any other browser for that matter to get an idea of what your, yes you called it yours above, site will look like. I reccomend browsercam @ http://www.browsercam.com/
that the site looks perfect in one version of IE means little.. the differences between versions is very noticable. fixing those errors will help immensely, trust me.
hope that helps 🙂
PS: browsercam is free for a limted number of uses or time, and an absolute godsend if you ask me
