Responsive?

What I want to do is to reduce the size (height/width) of the slide show to make it fit to the top of the vertical phone window (ie background-size: contain, though I know it doesn’t use it as a background). The rest of the content on that page will appear below the slide show on the phone screen. Same for all other iterations of “small” devices. I can work out the media queries but I’m just not sure what selector I would be targeting.
