Yes,
You can set the fields to be required over on MailChimps side. After updating your fields over there, you will need to re-import the fields into the plugin. From there, make sure that the required check box is checked next to the field you want set to required.

I recommend setting them all to required, and then checking off which ones you want to be required by the plugin.
If you set the name field to be required over on MailChimp, and un-check the required box in our plugin, the field will no longer be required.
Setting everything to required will allow you to have full control over the required fields within our plugin settings, on MailChimps side when logged in.

P.S You can get to that screen by going to ‘Settings > List fields and *|MERGE|* tags’ when inside of a given list.
