reply to doesn’t work on gmail
-
hi, i set all the form but when i receive the email and i click to “reply to” (with gmail), it’s my email and not the email of the lead.
However i set the email to reply to in the settings : {email-1} but it doesn’t work.
Thanks in advance.
Regards.

Hi @golded
Sorry to hear you are having this issue.
I can see we have a known issue on reply-to adding a blank space:

Can you remove it and check if the issue is gone?
I tested on my Gmail and it worked fine:

Patrick Freitasthere isn’t a space before but after and when i remove and save and return to check, there is a space added automatially…

https://monosnap.com/file/e32Nt5ejw599SmAF00MVbGHIN7WeXODo you have any SMTP plugins?
This could be forcing a wrong reply-to
Best Regards
Patrick Freitashi,
i should to uninstall the smtp plugin ? i think i dont have, what would be the name of this and is it on gmail? or chrome ?
Thanks
Hi @golded
SMTP plugin is used to replace the regular wp_mail() function which is from WordPress and the function that Forminator uses to submit the email.
As I could not replicate using your form on my lab site it indicates that something else is forcing the reply-to, this could be an SMTP plugin and I let you know.
About the name, it depends, there are many plugins available for WordPress, you can check if you have any in your WordPress > Plugins, search for SMTP or Email keywords.
We would need to disable it for a test, yes, but in case you don’t have any pluging the next troubleshooting test is a Full plugin and theme conflict test following this workflow:
https://wpmudev.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Support-Process-Support-Process.gif
Remember to take a Full backup or use a Staging website.
Let us know the result you got.
Best Regards
Patrick Freitasok, i will test but i don’t have a smtp plugin for your information.
I’m going to test the workflow.
Regards.
There are a lot of reports about Gmail free accounts ignoring the “Reply-To” header even if it is formatted correctly. Take a look at this one, which lists a couple of instances that can cause the problem, though there are plenty of users who report the “Reply-To” doesn’t always work even if they have corrected for those two problems:
There are two situations where Gmail will ignore the Reply-to header. Automatic replies (like vacation responders and canned responses) always get sent to the return address from the SMTP envelope. (Shown in the Return-path header.) If the From address is an alias of the Gmail account, replies will preserve the TO address. (Gmail treats "reply to self" as a follow-up to the original recipient.) Otherwise, replies from Gmail apps will respect the reply-to. (Other email clients may work differently, even with Gmail.)I’m still seeing Gmail ignore the Reply-To header when those two causes aren’t met.
One workaround is to include the user’s email address in the body of message, though I know that’s not ideal.
