Is there a simple method for replacing text phrases sitewide? I am relocating my small business and would like to change the location; New Jersey > Rhode Island through the site including pages, posts and tags. I am above beginner but not an expert.

Have you tried any plugins like Search and Replace or Find Replace?

I’ve tried searchreplace, it made a mess of my site. Do you have experience with the other two?

No, I don’t. I would definitely make a backup first, regardless of the method or plugin. If I get some time this evening, I can see how they perform.

While I won’t recommend a plugin I haven’t tried, I will mention plugins that have good download numbers, a fairly high rating, and a good track support record. Search and Replace seemed to qualify.

I just did a quick test with Search and Replace, and found that it works as advertised. It will show you what it’s going to change before it does, and you can get the generated SQL if you want to inspect it.

Thanks for hunting this down for me and for actually taking a test run, much appreciated! Seems to be working fine and I have changed about 15 phrases and all look OK!
