BTW, it plays fine on the post page. Thanks again.

Place the plugin shortcode after the <– more –> tag.

Here’s probably a stupid question for you, Where? Template? I’m lost, sorry, but thank you!

Within the post itself. The bit where you type in your post content and added the shortcode for the video.

That’s what I figured you meant so I tried it. It didn’t work. I’m so unfamiliar with php and css that I’m frustrated. I really appreciate your trying to help

    Here’s the source code.

It was this <!– more –> not this <– more –> that actually worked. Thank you esmi without a clue I would have never found the answer.

Sorry for confusing you with the wrong “more” tag. Sometimes my typing is awful!

    (@wapatu)

Not a problem. Without your response I’d still be trying to figure it out. As long as you were able to help with that, maybe you could help more? The code is gone in IE but not in FF and the player is no where in sight on the main page of my blog in either. Any help would be appreciated. Even if you’re typing is awful. 🙂 Thank you in advance.

Oh, I even tried this LONG code.

    <object name=”kaltura_player” id=”kaltura_player” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowScriptAccess=”always” allowNetworking=”all” allowFullScreen=”true” height=”332″ width=”400″ data=”http://www.kaltura.com/index.php/kwidget/wid/_27134/uiconf_id/48110/entry_id/q1lqhrms9o”><param name=”allowScriptAccess” value=”always” /><param name=”allowNetworking” value=”all” /><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true” /><param name=”bgcolor” value=”#000000″ /><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.kaltura.com/index.php/kwidget/wid/_27134/uiconf_id/48110/entry_id/q1lqhrms9o”/><param name=”flashVars” value=””/><param name=”wmode” value=”opaque”/>video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player</object>

It shows up in IE but won’t play.

In FF I just get this in caps
video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

The player won’t be visible on the main blog page because it’s below the cut-off imposed by the <!-- more --> tag. But then I thought to purpose was to try and channel more traffic to the post’s single page (where the player is visible)?

I’d switch back to your plugin’s shortcode. After all, the point of the plugin is, presumably, to remove the need to add the full markup code every time. I think having a player that works cross-browser should be the top priority.

Overall though, I don’t think there’s technical solution to your problem – which is that you have a video as the first (only?) content in that post. That’s always going to impose a situation where you only have 2 choices – show the video on the home page or keep it for the single post page. But there is a non-technical way around this which could have the benefit of giving you slightly better SEO.

Write a very short summary of what the video is about and place this text at the top of the page before the <!-- more --> tag. It’s copywriting technique that’s sometimes called “front loading”. On a blog, it offer three benefits:

    1. It allows you to keep the video for the single post page but still promote it on the blog’s main page.

    2. It pulls in interested visitors by clearly explaining what the full post offers.

    3. Text – especially keyword-rich text – at the top of a page/post will always have a much higher Google weighting than any video can ever have. Google can’t ‘see’ videos very effectively (although it’s getting better at it) but has absolutely no problem with text.
