I tried to search for a plugin and didn’t result in any luck.
I want to remove the ability to add a URL to the comments of my WordPress blog. I still want to allow comments from guests, but I just don’t want to offer a URL input. There isn’t really a need for it on the niche blog I want to do it on.
I’m getting a lot of AI-generated spam where the comments are relevant to the content they’re posting on, but the giveaway is the non-relevant link they’re adding. I’d like to see if taking the ability away to put a URL in the comments would prevent this sort of spam.
I do have to say, I feel like enabling/disabling the URL in the comment field should be an out-of-the-box feature on WordPress – maybe it could be slipped into a future upgrade 🙂 Just a friendly suggestion!
Appreciate it. I always get worried about using too many or unfamiliar plugins. So, I wondered mainly what other people used and liked. Thanks for the suggestions.
