Is there a way to get rid of the search field in the header via CSS instead of going thru the .php?

What theme are you using, and what is the url?

You *can* use CSS to hide the search –> display: none;

I don’t really recommend using CSS for this. Information about the theme and the website url will be helpful in answering your question properly.
