Instead of modifying the core files, use widget of Email Subscribers Advanced Form as it shows success message above the subscription form.

i would like to deactivate or change the text of the popup aswell.
I installed the “Email Subscribers Advanced Form” but couldnt find any option to do so.
Please advise.

Also, to change the text of the popup : How to change/update/translate any texts from Email Subscribers.
To use Email Subscribers Advanced Form, create a new subscribe form (from Email Subscribers -> Advanced Form) and insert it’s shortcode on page/post where you want to show subscribe form.
