Remove page title from frontpage

To anyone who is struggling like I did to remove the page title from the bottom of the front page, below the home page widgets, here is how to hide it:

In the page.php file search for
<?php the_title(); ?>

and add

<?php if ( is_front_page() ) { ?><?php } else { ?>

in front and

<?php } ?>

behind it.
