I wonder if anyone could suggest a filter to add to functions.php to remove the NextGen ‘Add gallery’ button from the visual editor? I can’t find any setting to do it, or anything via search.

You can use something like: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/4.7/src/wp-includes/class-wp-editor.php#L439

Only adjust it for the proper “buttons row” filter, most likely this one: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/4.7/src/wp-includes/class-wp-editor.php#L624, and for the name of the button added by NextGen.

Ah complicated. Bit too difficult for me! Actually there are two buttons. A small one in the first row and a bigger named one next to the ‘Add media’ button.

I’m trying to discourage the other editors from using galleries other than the WP default but it’s not a big problem.

Using a custom style sheet you can hide the upper button so:
```
#ngg-media-button {
display: none;
}
```
