Never edit core CSS or PHP files under Appearance > Editor. Your edits will be deleted when the theme is updated.
I tried this code but it’s not working. the top menu still highlights the menu items with green when i hover over them.
Not sure why it’s not working for you I tested it on a test theme and it worked for me.

Worked perfectly, thanks @ Northwoods Creative and @matte_uh for keeping me honest, installing the Simple Custom CSS plugin and pasting the code there worked 🙂
I added the plugin as well and pasted in the sample code, and my menu is still highlighting green. Is there a special setting I am missing? My “Next Campaign” link is green as well which makes me think the same will happen with the “Next Blog”.

We’re still developing the site, so there are not a lot of things in place yet, but I’d like to get the look/colors right before I dive too deep. Any tips are greatly appreciated.
I’d love to change the red dot on active pages to a different color too. I found where to change all of the other colors, I just can’t find the green highlighter and red dot 🙁
