I briefly activated this plugin, but decided it wasn’t right for my site so deactivated it. And yet, I am still receiving emails! I realize I can unsubscribe at any time because of the note that appears at the bottom of the email:

You received this email because you subscribed to our list when you activated Hide My WP. You can unsubscribe at any time.

However, rather than having to take the step to unsubscribe, it would be far better if the email address were automatically removed from the list when the plugin was deactivated.

Please make this change to the plugin. Because of the ridiculous number of unwanted emails that were automatically labelled as “junk mail” by the email program, it’s extremely unlikely that I would activate and/or recommend this plugin again.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Thank you for your feedback. We already work to add a feedback popup with opt-out option when someone deactivates the plugin.

WordPress doesn’t inform us when you deactivate the plugin so it’s something we need to add. It’s easier for us too not to have uninterested people on our list.

Thanks again for letting us know about this.

    Best, John

Thank you, John. I guessed that it may have been something you didn’t know about and am glad to learn that you have now added an “opt-out” option when the plugin is deactivated.

It might also be a good idea to add a the “opt-out” option when activating the plugin. Alternatively, it could go in the settings area.

    Hi,

We have already the opt-out option on plugin activation. It’s under the email field.
If you opt-out on activation, you don’t get any email from us.

I did not see that opt-out option on the plugin activation before. So, just now, I went to look again.

Please note that the place to opt-out is not at all obvious. The opt-out does not appear in the activation area (I installed the plugin from my WP plugin dashboard). Additionally, when deactivating the plugin, the message that comes up saying that everything to do with the plugin has been erased gives the user a false sense of security.

Please add a message about where to opt in or out of email on your set-up instructions.

    Thank you.
