Sorry, there must be a million threads on this topic, but most appear to be old. And also sorry, I am a complete n00b at WordPress.

When I go to edit an individual page, I see no option to allow or hide the comment box.

Am I looking in the wrong place?

    Thanks in advance.

  • You can switch off comments from your WordPress settings though the comments section might still appear.

In that case you have to remove the code from your Theme by removing the loading of comments section from the single.php (i.e. the template used for single blog post display).

Click on screen option on the top right hand corner of your editor. A group of check boxes will appear. Check discussion and return to the bottom left of the editor and UN-CHECK the box Allow comments. This will do the job for you.

    Visian,

I am sorry my suggestion was related to removing comments box throughout the whole website. My mistake. Krishna’s suggestion is the correct one.

    Thank you Krishna… that worked.

Usability note: when looking to control “comments” you skip right over “discussions” 🙂

Glad that you could solve the problem. Now please mark the topic as resolved.

Heh… just like Apple… the most important item of UI at the very bottom…. where no one looks.

Just the poster child for the clueless user here… your help is very much appreciated!!!
