Remove comment from thread to be new comment

Hi,

I have set the comments upto 5 level depth.

However I find that sometimes – the visitors instead of putting a new comment for their query put their query in the old comment thread.

So, is it possible to shift such comments from the comments thread to be a separate new comment?

I hope I have put the issue clearly.

Perhaps – there should be feature like *comment parent* in the quick edit of comments.

Currently I am not sure whether it can be done from the admin.

Haven’t seen a plugin for that but could zero out the coment_parent value in the wp_comments table using something like phpMyAdmin.

Do a database backup before attempting!!
