    Hi,

Is it possible to use Relevanssi to power searches inside WordPress’ Media Library, such as when searching for a featured image while editing a post?

I don’t mean indexing attachments with Relevanssi Premium specifically. What I’m looking for is replacing/improving WordPress’ native Media Library search itself, which becomes very slow on large sites.

For example, searching for images in the media modal currently triggers very heavy SQL queries and full scans on the wp_posts table.

Is there any built-in integration, hook, or recommended approach for using Relevanssi in this context?

    Thanks!

If Relevanssi is enabled in admin search, Relevanssi will automatically take over the Media Library search for the list view. That’s all. Taking over these modal searches is complicated, and out of scope for Relevanssi.

You mean searching from /wp-admin/upload.php?mode=list? If so, doesn’t seem to be working for me — and yes, I have Relevanssi enabled for admin search.

But yes, our main usage would be from the modal when selecting a featured image inside Gutenberg.

    Thanks, @msaari.

Yes, that’s the one – that can be Relevanssi. The other media searches, no chance unfortunately.
