Register User Without Logging Them In

Is there a way to register a user without logging them in? Let’s say I have regular users that have id’s and passwords, then I have ‘clients’ that only have name email. I’d like to be able to have users register ‘clients’ so there is a client directory that the users can see. The issue is, when I’m logged in as a user and register a client, it automatically logs me out as a user and in as the new ‘client’. Is there a way to just register the ‘client’ without logging in as them?
