Redirected after login

This plugin has been working great for me for a long time, but strangely recently when I try to login, it sends me back to the homepage after entering account credentials at the WP login page. There is no way to get to the dashboard despite logging in. What’s the best way to troubleshoot such a situation, just disable the plugin via sftp, login and reinstall?
