“Redirect only” method is deprecated

    I have a Woocommerce site that has both products that are links to Google Docs, Canva templates etc. that require a redirect as well as downloadable products that are hosted on the site that require a force download.

    I switched the download method to “Redirect only” and both the redirects and downloads seemed to work but now I’m getting a message from Woocommerce saying: Your store is configured to serve digital products using “Redirect only” method. This method is deprecated, please switch to a different method instead.

    I tried force download but then the links don’t work. Does anyone have a solution for me please?

    Hello,

    Could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.  Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

    It’s been a while so I was just checking on this thread.

    Thanks for sharing this. Then the error could be shown in instances where the user is downloading a file located on your server rather than on a cloud storage device. It would only be feasible to change to a different download method, like Force Download, if all files were hosted on your server.

    @abwaita thanks 🙂 Unfortunately, 99% of products are all hosted on our servers as it’s a multi-vendor site so vendors are constantly uploading but there are a couple templates we are selling that are Google Sheets or Canva links etc. and I can’t make those downloads as they lose their functionality. So, I’m looking for a way to have both downloads and redirects.

    It seems that would require customization here. I’d recommend you contacting one of developers on our
    WooCommerce Customizations Page.
