Hi, I’m hoping for some help on SEOPress attachment redirect settings.

Overnight I had over 2,000 “media/video” URLs flagged in Google Search Console as Page with redirect.
These weren’t real uploads, they’re phantom paths like: assets/content – media/storage – public/video and all seem to be from spammy weird referring domains.

I believe SEOPress is redirecting them to random posts as these are attachment urls?

    I have these toggles ON:

    • Redirect attachment pages to post parent/homepage
    • Redirect attachment pages to their file URL

Should I turn both these toggles off so junk urls return a 404? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hi,

I’m not sure this issue is related to SEOPress.

Can you share 1 or 2 example URL?

Do you have any caching plugins?

Please share as much details as possible.

Hi, thank you for your quick reply.

    Here are two examples:

    https://www.madornomad.com/resource/video_files/2f63c41ddf26b236.mp4?t={seek_to_start_number}

    https://www.madornomad.com/content/stream/2d54140ec49c3804.mp4?mode=short_video&auto=false

Yes, I use Siteground and Cloudflare caching.

I thought these might be related to SEOPress’s attachment redirect settings. Could SEOPress’s attachment redirect toggles affect non‑attachment paths like these, or should I be looking elsewhere (e.g. caching/CDN)?

If it is not related to SEOPress then I apologise for wasting your time.

    Thanks for clarifying

    Hi,

    definitely not related to SEOPress.

We only redirect WordPress attachment URL.

I guess these URL are served by a CDN or a caching plugin.

If you don’t need to index these URL in search engines, I’ll recommend to disallow them using the robots.txt file (https://www.seopress.org/support/guides/edit-robots-txt-file/).
