red more plugins

I have tried three different plugins to put ‘read more’ on my pages:

Read More without Refresh
Collapse O Matic

None work at all – all of them do work the first time you put them on but NOT AT ALL when you add more or try to change settings on any of the three.

Even when they do work the FOOTERS have to pushed down so far that no one will see them because there is a giant empty space between the READ MORE button and the FOOTERS – looks horrible – but the extra spaces / lines are needed because IF you don’t leave the extra lines for space for the collapsed text to be displayed then when the hidden text, when opened with READ MORE button, the now un-collapsed text will display OVER the FOOTERS.

I have gone over the documentation for all three plugins and find NO answer in any of the three of them – that is why I am posting here
